Cada Mujer/Cada Cuento
is a creative workshop for Spanish-speaking and bilingual women immigrants. I used it in a writing class at Catholic Charities with women working on their GED's. My goal is to tap into the treasure of stories that make up the immigrant experience and to accompany women in their journey toward self-expression and empowerment.

Committing Poetry In Times of War is an award-winning documentary that features Demetria and other poets who came together in support of a New Mexico teacher who was fired after backing his students' right to oppose the Iraq war, using poetry as a means of self-expression. Out of this experience emerged a nationwide slam poetry movement to support and inspire all poets who feel compelled to take a stand in that place where craft and commitment come together.
